ARDEN HEIGHTS — A man drove his car off the road and into Staten Island's Richmond Creek Tuesday morning after accidentally stepping on the gas, the FDNY said.
The man crashed through a fence and and into the water near 1297 Arthur Kill Rd. at about 11:30 a.m., the FDNY said.

The man and his car were pulled out by firefighters, and he was transported to Staten Island University Hospital South in stable condition, an FDNY spokeswoman said.
The man accidentally stepped on his gas pedal and drove the car from the rear parking lot of the nearby Jewish Community Center through a fence and into the water, the Staten Island Advance reported.
