PROSPECT PARK SOUTH — An NYPD officer was stabbed in the arm in Prospect Park South by an emotionally disturbed person Monday, police said.

The 43-year-old officer, whose name was not immediately released, was with a social worker visiting a woman at her apartment in 145 E. 18th St., near Tennis Court, about 11:35 a.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.

When the social worker opened the door, the woman stabbed the police officer in the arm, officials said.

The officer was treated at Kings County Hospital, where he's listed as in stable condition, police said.

The woman, who is in police custody, was taken to Maimonides Medical Center for evaluation, an NYPD spokesman said.

Neighbors said she moved into the apartment building over the summer.

"She was mad chill. She didn't seem like the type to do something like that," said neighbor Sam Johnson, 17.
