GREENWICH VILLAGE — A man has been following people into apartment buildings and robbing them at gunpoint, police said.

The man first came onto the NYPD's radar after robbing a pair of young men in an apartment building lobby near Waverly Place and Christopher Street on Dec. 13, police said.

Detectives have since linked the same suspect to at least three other robberies, and one attempted robbery.

First he robbed a 31-year-old man of a cellphone, watch and $300 in front of 181 Thompson St. on Dec. 30 about 3:15 a.m., police said.

Then, along with the Jan. 14 robbery of a woman he followed into a building in the East Village, police believe he followed at least two other people into buildings around the East Village and Greenwich Village.

He followed a 28-year-old man into an apartment building at 381 East 10th St. about 5:25 p.m. on Jan. 19, threatened him with a knife and demanded his messenger bag, police said, but the victim refused to hand over the bag and the suspect ran off.

He also followed a 24-year-old woman into an elevator in an apartment building near West 13th Street and Sixth Avenue about 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 21, police said, and again pretended to have a gun in his jacket. He made off with the victim's headphones and $50, police said.

The NYPD is looking for the man pictured above, and captured in surveillance video (from the first and third incidents).

Police ask that anyone with information call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential.
