Man Robs Woman in Elevator of East Village Apartment Building, Police Say

EAST VILLAGE — A thief robbed a 27-year-old woman of $150 in cash after following her into the elevator of her apartment building, police said.

The suspect trailed the victim into an apartment building near East 12th Street and Third Avenue roughly 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 14, according to authorities.

Once inside the elevator, the man pretended to have a gun inside of his jacket pocket, demanded money and fled with the cash, police said.

The victim was not injured during the incident, according to officials.

The suspect was seen wearing a dark winter jacket and a dark winter hat, police said.
