Friday, Jan. 22

Opening Reception of “Flood”

Where: Pioneer Works, 159 Pioneer St., Red Hook
When: 6 to 9 p.m.

Charles Harlan’s exhibit “Flood,” which features a 10-foot brick cube with a basin of water inside, will be celebrated during its opening reception Friday night. The exhibit will be on display till the end of February. 

New York Comedy Festival Presents Sarah Silverman & Friends

Where: BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, 30 Lafayette Ave., Fort Greene
When: 8 p.m.

Comedian Sarah Silverman brings her ironic take on controversial topics like religion, politics and race to the Brooklyn Academy of Music Friday for a show presented by the New York Comedy Festival. The set will run for an hour and a half. Tickets start at $44.95.

Global Vegetarian Supper Club

Where: Bed-Stuy Fresh and Local, 210 Patchen Ave., Bed-Stuy
When: 8 to 11:30 p.m.

This popular Bed-Stuy grocery hosts its first supper club of 2016 while celebrating its two-year anniversary. Meet your neighbors and guests from around the city at this four-course dinner party, where dishes include roasted apple and garlic jerk tofu steaks, bulgogi portabella tacos and Caribbean deviled eggs. The event is BYOB and tickets are $30. 

#FOMOPARTY Turns One

Where: Friends and Lovers, 641 Classon Ave., Crown Heights
When: 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Before the blizzard sets in, get hyped at Friends and Lovers’ one-year anniversary party, which coincides with #FOMOPARTY, a monthly dance party and all-around good time. DJs TAP.10, Darling Chuck, Tha Yellow R Kel and Nick Catchdubs will be performing. The event is free with an RSVP.

Saturday, Jan. 23

Super Winter Bird Walk

Where: Grand Army Plaza arch, Prospect Heights
When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brave the blizzard to see some really hearty birds on this three-hour winter birdwatching expedition in Prospect Park hosted by the Urban Park Rangers. In our opinion, this might be the most outdoorsy thing you can do without leaving the borough this weekend.

Go Shopping Inside a $4.6 Million Brownstone

Where: 857 Carroll St., Park Slope
When: 12 to 7 p.m.

Hovey Design is hosting a “pop-up department store” inside 857 Carroll St., a 10-room townhouse that Hovey Design has “staged” with a selection of carefully curated furniture and art. Everything in the house is for sale, and there will also be products available from vendors including Crowley Vintage and Tamworth Distilling Co.

Cocktail Hour with Nadine Boughton

Where: United Photo Industries, 16 Main St. Suite B, DUMBO
When: 2 to 5 p.m.

Sip some cocktails and munch on appetizers for a cocktail hour with artist Nadine Boughton, who will be presenting the artistic process behind her “American Home” exhibition at United Photo Industries. Boughton’s collages, taken from vintage magazines, explore the psychology, politics and polarities of 1950s America. 

Exhibit Opening at Gowanus Souvenir Shop

Where: 543 Union St., Gowanus
When: 4 to 7 p.m.

Artist Lance Rutledge presents a series of paintings called “This Used to Be My Studio” at the Gowanus Souvenir Shop, a store dedicated to capturing the unique allure of Brooklyn’s dirtiest canal.

Whiskey Wars Factory Tour 

Where: Kings County Distillery, 299 Sands St., Brooklyn Navy Yard   
When: 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Travel back to the Prohibition era and learn how illegal moonshine distilling turned into today’s whiskey industry with a tour and tasting at Kings County Distillery hosted by BLDG 92 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Participants must at least 21 years old. Tickets are $13.50 for BLDG 92 members and $15 for non-members.

Shake it, Stuff it Sundays

Where: G.G.Nix Vintage, 1339 Dekalb Ave., Bushwick
When: Every Sunday from 12 to 8 p.m.

Shove all the vintage threads you can fit in one bag for $20 on Sunday afternoon. Plus from 4 to 8 p.m. there’ll be wine, tea, snacks and music blaring so you can dance in your new, old gear. 

Wine and Weave: Kente Weaving Workshop

Where: Calabar Imports, 351 Tompkins Ave., Bed-Stuy
When: 2 to 4 p.m. 

Learn African cloth weaving and how to make traditional Kente fabric from master weaver Kwasi Asare. The workshops uses miniature looms and students can sip on wine while working. Tickets cost $32.64.

When: 7:30 p.m.

61 Local’s bimonthly music series continues this weekend in their upstairs performance space. The lineup for Sunday’s show includes Devon Yesberger, jazz musician Alita Moses and Brooklyn soul collective Space Captain.
