Saturday, Jan. 23
Winter Jam
Where? Central Park Bandshell, near 72nd St., Central Park
When? 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
How Much? Free
Winter Jam is a free winter sports festival for New Yorkers featuring fresh blown snow by Gore Mountain and free equipment rentals, activities include snowshoeing, kicksledding, snowboarding and skiing lessons. All ages are allowed and the event will occur rain, snow or shine.

Brooklyn Inventgenuity Festival 2016
Where? Invisible Dog Art Center, 317 Hoyt St., Gowanus
When? 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 
How Much? Free admission but there are material fees; advance registration required.
Brooklyn Inventgenuity Festival is a weekend of hands on creation and imagination at Beam Center featuring low and high-tech workshops and one big collaborative project. Beam Center powers youth development and learning with creation, collaboration and educator professional development. 

Queens Museum Spooktacular Ball for Families
Where? Queens Museum, New York City Building, Flushing Meadows Corona Park
When? 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
How Much? $20 per person, $75 for family of 6.
This year the Queens Museum’s spooky circus will take place among the trees. Follow the breadcrumbs to the Spooktacular Enchanted Forest! Wear a costume and parade in a winter woodland created Circus Amok.

Sunday, Jan. 24
Tu Bishvat - Birthday of the Trees Festival!
Where? Hannah Senesh Community Day School, 342 Smith St., Carroll Gardens
When? 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
How Much? $5
Tu Bishvat is the Birthday of the Trees in Israel. Celebrate with interactive storytelling, crafts and environmentally inspired art workshops run by local artists and community organizations.  

Hoot & Howl Weekend Family Art Project: Hoot and Howl
Where? Wave Hill Garden and Cultural Center, 675 W. 252nd St., Riverdale
When? 10 a.m to 1 p.m.
How Much? Free with admission to the grounds. 
Hear about the folklore surrounding two wonderfully mysterious creatures — the owl and the coyote. Together with visiting artist Roxanne Jackson, learn about these local animals and their habits and attributes as we sculpt our own owl and coyote creatures in air-dry clay. Embellish your projects with bits of natural materials like feathers, natural pigments and more.

The Gumball Gang: Crime-Solving Kids
Where? TADA Youth Theater, 15 W. 28th St., Midtown
When? Performances at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
How Much? $20-$25 for adults, $10-15 for children
Join The Gumball Gang as they try to solve the Case of the Missing Masterpiece. Performed for kids by kids.
