The new art gallery, the Canvas Institute of Art Culture & Civic Engagement, will host their grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The free event will feature art and events about the life of King Jr., including a jazz tribute, poetry and a screening of the film Selma.

Staten Island Arts will host a fundraising concert for their Lark Fund — which brings musical instruments to Staten Island schools — with a benefit concert featuring performance by Joan and Gary Moore, Big Frank Mirra, Vincent Vok, students from Staten Island School of Rock and more. Admission is a $10 suggested donation
Where: Fort Wadsworth's Visitors' Center, Bay Street & School Road, Fort Wadsworth
When: 2 p.m.
Staten Island OutLOUD extended their series of events based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's work with a reading of his story "The Ice Palace" at Fort Wadsworth. Participants will gather inside the Visitors's Center to read the story then go outside for a walk around the old fort buildings.
Where: Historic Richmond Town's Guyon Tavern, 441 Clarke Ave., Richmond Town
Where: 6 and 8 p.m.
Historic Richmond Town continues their series of acoustic performances inside their historic Guyon Tavern with a performance by Bob & Norm who will give their program of short stories and traditional songs on the guitar, fiddle, banjo and mandola. The concert is $11 online, $13 at the door.
► Staten Island Creative Community Craft Fair
Where: Art on the Terrace Gallery, 776 Richmond Terrace, Livingston
When: 12 to 6 p.m.
The Staten Island Creative Community will celebrate their new exhibit, Color & Form, with a craft fair where members of the art group will set-up their wares in the new gallery and sell their work.
