Vogue Knitting LIVE 2015

Where: The Marriot Marquis Hotel, 1535 Broadway, Times Square
When: Jan. 15 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Jan. 16 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Jan. 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Vogue Knitting magazine is hosting an event for "yarn enthusiasts” where they can take part in a range of events including classes taught by experts, meet knitting-world celebrities like the “World’s Fastest Knitter” and attend a gala dinner featuring a knitting symphony.

Graphic Passion: Matisse and the Book Arts

Where: Morgan Library and Museum, 225 Madison Avenue at East 36th Street in Midtown South
When: The museum is open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

It’s your last weekend to catch this exhibition of Henri Matisse’s exploration of the printed book as an artistic medium. Prepare for all the cut-outs your heart desires.

"Bieber Bathos Elegy"

Where: Whitney Museum, 99 Gansevoort St., Meatpacking District
When: Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.

The musical "Bieber Bathos Elegy" by New Yorker Felix Bernstein "ponders the concept of bathos — the failure to achieve pathos — rendering the art of failure into the art of perfection," as well as "positioning queerness as normality and subversion as expected," according to a description by the museum. Tickets are $10, $8 for students and seniors, and free for members and people under the age of 18.

2015 NYPD Food Drive

Where: 34th Precinct, 4295 Broadway, Washington Heights
When: All Day

Last day to bring all canned fruit, vegetables, peanut butter (plastic jars), packaged macaroni and cheese, and packaged hot and cold cereals for the City Harvest Food Drive. The 34th Precinct was the season’s designated drop-off location. The drive launched on Oct. 27. Friday Evening Jazz

Where: Morgan Library and Museum, 225 Madison Avenue at East 36th Street in Midtown South
When: 6:30 p.m.

Have a jazzy start to your weekend with a live performance by students from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.

Harlem After Work Soul Dance Party

Where: Bishop Perry Hall on 57 W. 138th St., Central Harlem
When: 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Learn a new dance move by the group "Harlem Smooth Movers," and groove for five hours straight to the smooth sounds of "The Professor." Tickets are $15 at the door.

Big Dance: Short Form

Where: The Kitchen, 512 W. 19th St., Chelsea
When: 8 p.m.

Big Dance Theater is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a dance-theater performance at The Kitchen that includes a 15-minute birthday celebration at intermission. The performance is inspired by “disciplines of the concise — novellas, folk tales, diary entries, pencil drawings, thumbnail sketches, and the single page of a notebook” and will include five short dance theater works. Tickets are $25 and there will be a final performance on Jan. 16 as well.

Black Comic Book Festival

Where: Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, 515 Malcolm X Blvd., Central Harlem
Where: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The fourth annual Black Comic Book Festival celebrated the tradition of black comics and features panel discussions, a screening of the Black Panther animated series, hands-on workshops, and exhibit tables. Check out a full lineup here.

Puppet Show with Live Music, Puppetry and Tap Dancing

Where: Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (at 95th), Upper West Side
When: 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Award-winning puppeteer Joshua Holden performs a show with his socket puppet Mr. Nicholas in which he teaches lessons about self-discovery and finding joy. The show is described as “whimsical” and includes multiple styles of puppetry, live music and tap dancing. It’s recommended for kids five years old and older.

“Women Take the Lead”

Where: The Roosevelt House at Hunter College, 47-49 E. 65th St., Upper East Side
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An exhibit of posters and controversial writings used during the women’s suffrage movement around the turn of the 20th century, as well as the rap sheets for the leaders of the suffragettes, will be on display through April 2.

Art Installation opening: Le Bestiarie

Where: The French Institute Alliance Française Gallery, 22 E. 60th St., Upper East Side
When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Designers and artists have created an imaginary zoo populated with abstract and outrageous animals that children can interact with.

Sunday, January 17

Soul to Soul: Yiddish and African American Music Meet in a Concert Celebration

Where: Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Pl., Battery Park City
When: 2 p.m.

A show to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., features African American and Yiddish music from acclaimed performers Magda Fishman, Elmore James and Tony Perry. Tickets are $20 or $15 for members.

LGBT Sunday Pride Night

Where: Hogshead Tavern, 126 Hamilton Pl., Hamilton Heights
Where: 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Come to Uptown's only dedicated LGBT night. Sunday nights are more neighborhood mixer than weekend rager. The tavern serves drink specials.
