EAST NEW YORK — One teen was killed and another wounded in a shooting outside Roberto Clemente public elementary school Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The two young men, 18 and 17, were shot at the corner of Pennsylvania and Livonia avenues about 2:45 p.m., according to NYPD and FDNY spokesmen.
The 18-year-old, whose name was not immediately released, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at Brookdale University Hospital, police said.
The other victim was shot in the right arm and treated at the same hospital where he is listed in stable condition, officials said.
Police taped off Pennsylvania Avenue between Livonia and Riverdale avenues as they investigated the shooting.
Police took three people into custody, but their identities were not immediately released, NYPD officials said.
Investigators also recovered a weapon at the scene, police said.
It was not immediately clear what sparked the shooting.
Roberto Clemente serves about 526 students from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade, according to its website.
