MIDTOWN — A man walked into a Midtown jewelry shop, asked to see a necklace, and ran away with it, according to a police report.

The suspect asked to see a necklace at Ray’s Midtown Jewelry at 459 Lexington Ave. between East 45th and East 46th streets on Dec. 20 shortly before 3:30 p.m., police said.

As the clerk showed him the necklace, the suspect grabbed it and dashed out of the shop without paying, according to a police report.

The NYPD released security footage from the incident showing the suspect, who police described as standing 5-foot-11 and weighing roughly 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue winter cap, a white t-shirt and a jacket.

Police did not have information on the price of the necklace, and an employee of the shop hung up when a reporter called for comment.

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips on the website.
