MANHATTAN — Officers arrested a 17-year-old man with a gun after hearing at least five shots ring out near police headquarters Thursday night, according to the NYPD.

Plain-clothed members of the Anti-Crime Team heard the shots near the Governor Alfred E. Smith Houses off Madison Street behind One Police Plaza at about 10:25 p.m., police said.

The officers ran toward the shots and saw three men fleeing the scene.

They chased after the group and saw one man pull at his pocket while running away.

Police stopped him and discovered a .38 caliber revolver in his jacket pocket, according to the NYPD.

Investigators determined the shots were fired at another group of young men, and that no one was hit.

The young man, Jordan Rodriguez, 17, was charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.

Rodriguez, who lives in the East Village, was expected to be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court.
