The full length trailer for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming Netflix series "The Get Down" is out, and while it may be light on plot details, it does feature plenty of the theatrical singing and dancing that people have come to expect from the famed director of movies like "Moulin Rouge!" and "The Great Gatsby."
The series focuses on a group of teenagers from the South Bronx in the 1970s and aims to tell the story of how New York City gave birth to hip-hop, disco and punk while it was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. It will debut on Netflix later this year.
While Bronxites have expressed concerns about how the series will portray their borough, Luhrmann assured residents at an event last winter that the series would aim to move beyond the negative stereotypes people often believe about The Bronx.
