Friday, Jan. 1

► First Day Hike

Where: Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve, 2351 Veterans Road West, Charleston
When: 1 to 3 p.m.

Start the new year off on the right foot, and maybe get a jump on your resolution to get fitter, with a guided hike through Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve. The hike will go through approximately two miles of the park and is suitable for beginners.

Saturday, Jan. 2

► MakeFest 1716-2016

Where: Historic Richmond Town, 441 Clarke Ave., Richmond Town
When: 5 to 8 p.m.

Historic Richmond Town, along with Assembly 3D Printing and the Staten Island MakerSpace, will host the "MakeFest 1716-2016" featuring a variety of stations where people can make things from throughout history. The event will give people the opportunity to make a traditional ornament from 1816, watch how cookies were made in the 1940s, make paper holiday toys from 1716, take a 2016 digital Polaroid, make authentic 1716 tinsel and make a 3D-printed LED lantern. Tickets are required for the festival, which costs $15 for adult, $10 for children $10 and under and Staten Island Historical Society members get $5 off.

 Lemmy Forever

Where: Mother Pugs Saloon, 1371 Forest Ave., Elm Park
When: 9 p.m.

The Staten Island bar Mother Pugs Saloon will celebrate the life and music of Lemmy Kilmister, the bass player of Motörhead who died this week after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, on Saturday night. Bartender Jeff Enrage plans to play Motörhead all night and have specials on some of Lemmy's favorite drinks, including Jack and Coke.

Sunday, Jan. 3

Staten Island Seisiún

Where: Flagship Brewing Company, 40 Minthorne St., Tompkinsville
When: 2 to 5 p.m.

Musicians Linda Hickman, Bob Wright and Douglas Barr return to Flagship for their open session of traditional Irish music the Staten Island Seisiún. Specializing in music from East Galway and Claire, sessions include "tunes of the week," and people are invited to listen, dance or play along to songs at the free event.
