LONG ISLAND CITY — A woman was attacked on a 7 train in Queens during the Monday morning rush hour after she accidentally bumped into a fellow passenger who then violently assaulted her, according to the NYPD.

The 37-year-old victim was riding the Manhattan-bound train near the Queensboro Plaza stop at 9:15 a.m. when she bumped into another woman while taking a seat next to her, police said.

The woman started arguing with the victim, and then began attacking her by pulling her hair and punching her repeatedly in the head, back and dislocating the victim's right shoulder in the process, according to police.

The suspect fled the train at either the Hunters Point Avenue or Vernon Boulevard/Jackson Avenue station, police said. The injured woman refused medical attention at the scene.

Police described the suspect as being roughly 35 years old, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. She has brown eyes, long wavy red hair and was wearing a black coat and multi-colored scarf, authorities said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
