Man Randomly Slashes Straphanger's Neck and Disappears Into Subway: NYPD

By Aidan Gardiner | December 17, 2015 8:38am

BROOKLYN — A man randomly slashed the neck of a straphanger in a Bedford-Stuyvesant subway station before disappearing into the tunnels Wednesday night, police said.

The suspect was on an A train as it pulled into the Nostrand Avenue subway station about 11:10 p.m., when he let another man, who is 38, disembark before him, NYPD officials said.

The two walked up to the stairs where the suspect slashed the right side of the other man's neck, police said.

The suspect ran back to the platform and disappeared into the westbound tunnel heading toward Franklin Avenue, an NYPD spokesman said.

He was not immediately arrested, police said.

The victim was treated at Kings County Hospital, where he's in stable condition, police said.

In a separate incident, a man wearing a surgical mask in Whitestone slashed a teenage girl Wednesday across the face in what appeared to be a random attack, police said.

That suspect was not immediately arrested, police said.

Investigators don't believe the two incidents are connected, an NYPD spokesman said.
