Saturday, Dec. 12

► Staten Island MakerSpace Pop-Up Maker Market

Where: Staten Island MakerSpace, 450 Front St., Stapleton
When: 12 to 4 p.m.

The Staten Island MakerSpace will host a holiday pop-up market with wares from local artists and makers for purchase. The market includes custom laser portraits by Kevin Mahoney of Robots Will Kill, prints and tote bags by artist Sarah Yuster, artwork by Magie Serpica, photos and metal creations by Gail Middleton and custom screenprinted t-shirts, pint glasses, laser cut keychains and more by Staten Island MakerSpace.

► A Christmas Carol

Where: Snug Harbor Cultural Center, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Livingston
When: 1 to 3 p.m.

The Lincoln Center's Boro-Linc programing will bring a free performance of interactive excerpts of Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol." Members of Staten Island's Sundog Theater will perform sections of the play while an expert will explain little know facts about the work and mime Bill Bowers leads a family workshop.

► Art Talk: Amer Kobaslija

Where: Staten Island Museum, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Livingston
When: 2 to 4 p.m.

Bosnian-American artist Amer Kobaslija will discuss his work and how it has been shaped by his youth at the Staten Island Museum. Kobaslija painted Japan after it was devastated by a tsunami, blighted parts of Florida and Staten Island after Hurricane Sandy, with some pieces on display in the museum. The talk is $15 for non-members, free for museum members.

► "I Still Remember" Opening

Where: Staten Island LGBT Community Center, 25 Victory Blvd. 3rd Floor, Tompkinsville
When: 6 to 9 p.m.

The "I Still Remember" photographic narrative by photographer Lester Blum and artistic director/model Vladimir Rios will debut at the Staten Island LGBT Community Center. The piece is an artistic interpretation of the early days of HIV/AIDS crisis, designed to commemorate those who passed away from the disease by telling a story of one gay man's life and the diagnosis of his illness.

► "Dark Prism" Screening

Where: Deep Tanks, 150 Bay St., St. George
When: 6 p.m.

The short horror film "Dark Prism," directed by 18-year-old Staten Islander Dylan Greenberg and featuring an appearance by indie-rocker Mac DeMarco, will host it's second screening and Staten Island premier at Deep Tanks studio. The event includes a director and cast Q&A and musical performances after the movie. The screening has a $5 suggested donation.

Sunday, Dec. 13

► Made in Staten Island Holiday Shop & Taste

Where: Flagship Brewing Company, 40 Minthorne St., Tompkinsville
When: 12 to 6 p.m.

The Flagship Brewing Company will host a holiday market featuring items all made on Staten Island. The event will have tastings from the Staten Island brewery, food and a visit from Santa. It will also serve as a toy driver and visitors are asked to bring an new, unwrapped toy for donation.

► Remembering Our Trouble Waters

Where: Advance Lock and Key, 2050 Hylan Blvd., Midland Beach
When: 2 to 5 p.m.

Staten Island Arts' Folklife will celebrate the launch of their "Trouble the Water" online story archive at an opening event on Sunday. The exhibit features audio interviews with Hurricane Sandy survivors, first responders and recent immigrants to the borough about water and will be accessible on the group's website. The event will have a virtual tour of the site and give out copies of the interviews recorded for the project.

► Richmond County Orchestra Mistletoe & Magic

Where: St. John's University, 300 Howard Ave., Silver Lake
When: 3 p.m.

The Richmond County Orchestra will host a free performance, with an Italian twist, including music Vivaldi's winter, Chopin, Jingle Bell Rock and more. The event also feature's the New American Youth Ballet dancing to Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker," Dragon Kim's Karate USA performing Beethoven's 5th, a visit from Santa and more.
