A new calendar transforms city sanitation employees into stars.
To be released Thursday, the first-ever 2016 DSNY calendar features 14 department employees posing in a decidedly glossier light.
As calendar photographer Michael Anton told the New York Daily News, "I really studied the style and lighting of old Hollywood glamour photos. I want people to look at sanitation workers the way I look at them."
Anton described his models as "glamorous heroes," and in the calendar they can be seen flexing their muscles and lifting heavy metal cans with ease.
You can buy the $14.95 calendar and meet the calendar models on Thursday at noon, at the Municipal Building's NYC City Store (One Centre St.). If you can't make it out, though, check out the calendar preview below:
Cherry Bailey, Ms. January
Richard Chu, Mr. October
Eugenia Robinson, Ms. August
Alberto Hernandez, Mr. December
