WATCH: Go Inside the Washington Square Park Arch With Parks Dept Periscope

By Danielle Tcholakian | November 25, 2015 2:41pm | Updated on November 26, 2015 2:59pm

Have you ever wanted to go inside the Washington Square Park arch?

It never occured to you that it was possible to go inside the Washington Square Park arch?

Well, it is!

And the city's Department of Parks and Recreation used Periscope to take New Yorkers — and, as the video's comments show, Russians, Albertans, Colombians, St. Petersburgans, Azerbaijianis and more — inside the massive landmark, up its windy staircases and through its dusty rooms, all the way to the top for a breathtaking view up Fifth Avenue and down at the park's fountain, framed by pretty fall foliage.

Shot and narrated by department videographer Adrian Sas, with Parks staff historian John Krawchuk leading the way, the video tour is informative on top of being just plain cool (and a little terror-inducing for anyone afraid of heights).

Also, it's totally something Leslie Knope would do.
