TOTTENVILLE —A 56-year-old construction worker died after he fell from the roof of a home under construction Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The man — identified as Eugeniusz Klecha by the Staten Island Advance — fell off the roof of 260 Bradford Ave. at about 3:15 p.m., the NYPD said. Police officials could not immediately confirm the victim's identity.
Officers arrived and found the man on the ground with head trauma and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Klecha was a framer who was working on the home for three weeks with Masseria Construction before the accident, said a worker who answered the phone at the company's Staten Island offices.
"[He] was a good guy," said the worker, who declined to give his name. "He just became a grandfather, it was a tragic accident."
The Medical Examiner was working to determine the cause of death, police said.
