QUEENS — Shake Shack will soon open another location in Queens, this time in Forest Hills, the chain said Monday.
The popular burger chain will launch its new location in 2016, at 71-26 Austin St., where Strawberry, a teen clothing retailer, once was, according to a spokeswoman for the restaurant.
"It feels good to continue to deepen our footprint in our hometown of NYC," the spokeswoman said in an email.
In September, a representative of the landlord said that a “major retailer” will replace Strawberry, which closed earlier this year when its lease expired, after roughly two decades on Austin Street.
Shake Shack announced in June that it will also open a restaurant next year at the Queens Center Mall, which is located less then two miles from its planned Austin Street location.
The chain has two other restaurants in Queens — at Citi Field and JFK.
Shake Shack will join a growing burger scene in Forest Hills, which includes Twist and Smash’d, Cheeburger Cheeburger and Bareburger.
