UNION SQUARE — Nearly 200 cats, kittens, and rabbits will descend on the Union Square Petco this weekend, giving animal lovers a chance to adopt one of the furry creatures.
“Whiskers in Wonderland,” organized by the Alliance for NYC’s Animals, will bring together furry critters from shelters across the city to be cooed over and, with any luck, find a permanent home.
Shelters showing off animals for adoption at the event include Animal Care Centers of NYC, Animal Rescue Fund, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Bideawee, K9Kastle, Kittykind, Linda’s Cat Assistance, NYC Metro Rabbit, Sean Casey Animal Rescue, Staten Island Hope, and more.
Face painting, live music and pet product giveaways will also be a available during the event, according to its organizers.
The adopt-a-thon lasts from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the 860 Broadway Petco, located on the corner of East 17th Street.
