STUYVESANT TOWN — A Chipotle restaurant is expected to open near Stuy Town on Sunday, according to a sign posted at the location.
Workers could be seen undergoing training on Tuesday at the new location of the popular burrito joint, and a sign on the door promised the restaurant would open at 11 a.m. on Sunday if "all the stars line up, nothing unforeseen happens, and fate smiles upon us."
The new Chipotle, on First Avenue at 17th Street, took the place of the former Stuy Town-Peter Cooper Village broker welcome center, which has moved up the street to 350 First Ave.
News of the incoming Chipotle first broke on local blog EV Grieve. The restaurant applied in October for a liquor license, and is scheduled to go before Community Board 6 at its full meeting on Nov. 18.
A representative of Chipotle did not respond to requests for comment.
