Saturday, Nov. 14
Ninth Annual Children’s Book Fair
Where? Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, Prospect Heights
When? 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
How Much? Free
Meet some of Brooklyn’s best children’s book authors and illustrators at this free event at the Brooklyn Museum. At 12:30 p.m. catch a reading by Julia Sarcone-Roach, author and illustrator of "The Bear Ate Your Sandwich" and at 3:30 p.m. see Michael Hearst, author of the young adult classic "Extraordinary People." Radio City Christmas Spectacular
Where? Radio City Music Hall, 1260 6th Ave., Midtown
When? Four shows most days through to January 3. 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
How Much? Tickets start at $47
The annual Christmas song-and-dance extravaganza starring the Rockettes kicks off this weekend at the world’s largest indoor theater, the iconic Radio City Music Hall. See "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” a unique take on ”The Nutcracker” and ice skaters, dancing teddy bears and dozens of Santa Clauses.

The Great Randall's Island Treasure Hunt
Where? South end of Icahn Stadium, Randall’s Island
When? From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
How Much? Free
Search for hidden treasures while you discover Randall's Island and unlock it’s secrets. There are courses for kids and adults, and lessons on how to use your provided maps and compasses. 

Sunday, Nov. 15
Holiday Train Show at Grand Central Terminal
Where? New York Transit Museum Gallery Annex, Grand Central Terminal, Midtown
When? Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., weekends 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
How Much? Free
Presented annually by the New York Transit Museum, this popular model railroad exhibition features Metro-North, New York Central, and subway trains departing from a miniature Grand Central Terminal. Vintage trains from the museum's collection, including New York Central models, travel all the way to the diorama's North Pole.

New York City Fire Museum
Where? 278 Spring St., Hudson Square
When? Open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
How Much? $8 adults, $6 children (12 and under).    
This year the legendary Fire Department of New York City celebrates their 150th anniversary. Learn about the Department’s story including the early days of fire fighting in New York, extending back to the days of Dutch colonization. The New York City Fire Museum houses one of the nation's most important collections of fire related art and artifacts. Two exhibit floors trace the development of firefighting in New York from the early bucket brigades to the present day.

Ice Skating
Where? Across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens & Staten Island
When? Most seasonal rinks are now open. 
How Much? Prices vary from free (at the Winter Village at Bryant Park, but you must bring your own skates) to $25 or $32 for adults, kids 10 and under $15; skate rental $12 at the Rink at Rockefeller Center.
