FLATBUSH — A  23-year-old man was shot in the head and killed in his Flatbush apartment building Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Armani Thomas was found shot in a stairwell at 1819 Beverley Rd., near East 19th Street, about 12:57 p.m., FDNY and NYPD officials said.

“I hear a bang, bang, bang, bang. I said, ‘What’s going on? I think shots were fired over there,’” said a super in a nearby apartment building, Lloyd Lyttle, 64.

Lyttle saw emergency medical crews carrying Thomas out, who he recognized as a tenant of the building, he said.

“He was bleeding from the upper part of his body. He was in a bad shape. They were pumping his chest and trying to resuscitate him," Lyttle said.

Thomas was taken to Kings County Hospital where doctors declared him dead, police said.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the shooting, police said, and an investigation is ongoing.

Police released footage of the suspect in the shooting.

"I was shocked. It's a tragedy," Lyttle said.

"There's too many guns in the streets. It's not good for the area. We need more police protection. Very sad," the super added.
