PARK SLOPE — Plans for a condo building next to the Pavilion Theater were approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission this week after the designs were tweaked in response to community criticism, developer Hidrock Realty announced Thursday.
The LPC unanimously approved the proposal to repurpose the Pavilion Theater as a a six-story condo building at 14th Street and Prospect Park West.
Architect Morris Adjmi's revised renderings show changes to the building, including setting back the fifth floor of the proposed building by 6 feet and making the cornice more prominent to blend in better with neighboring buildings on Bartel-Pritchard Square.
"The final plan directly and significantly addresses virtually every design issue raised by Community Board 6, Councilmember [Brad] Lander and the LPC itself," read a statement from the developer.

Locals slammed Hidrock's earlier design back in July, asking the developer to "tone down" the condo building. In August, the LPC asked Hidrock to make the building less "prominent."
With the LPC's approval, the project was awarded a certificate of appropriateness and it must now be reviewed by the Board of Standards and Appeals.
Construction is expected to begin next fall, with an anticipated completion date in late 2018.
