South Brooklyn Guide to Halloween Parties and Parades for All Ages

BROOKLYN — The spookiest night of the year is approaching and DNAinfo New york has more than a dozen parties, parades and movie screenings for adults and children in Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Gowanus and Brooklyn Heights. 

If you can't find what you're looking for here, there are several other upcoming Halloween events for kids and teens throughout the city. 

"Night of the Living Dead" Movie Screening

Where: Brooklyn Public Library's Central Branch on Grand Army Plaza

When: Oct. 31 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The classic 1960s zombie horror flick "Night of the Living Dead" directed by George A. Romero will be screened in the Dweck Center of BPL's Central Library

Jalopy Tavern's Halloween Activities For Adults and Kids

Where: 315 Columbia St.

When: Oct. 31

Jalopy will kick off its festivities with a kids' Halloween party and square dance from 5 to 7 p.m. Stop by for live music, costumes, prizes and candy. Tickets are $7 for children; free for prarents and caregivers. 

Then from 9 p.m. onward, Jalopy will host a Rotten Apple Roots and Bluegrass Halloween with a superjam and performances from Seth Kessel & The Two Cent Band, Tara Mills & Jimmy Stelling of Hackensaw Boys, Ivy, Beck, and Niell, and Coyote & Crow. For tickets, click here

The Annual Park Slope Halloween Parade

Where: Starts at Seventh Avenue and 14th Street

When: Oct. 31, 6:30 p.m.

The annual parade kicks off at 14th Street and 7th Avenue, heading down to 3rd Street and finishing at Washington Park. The Old Stone House in the park will also be hosting a number of events throughout the day, including an after party following the parade from 7:15 to 9 p.m. More details can be found here. 

► Morbid Anatomy Children's Halloween Party

When: Oct. 31 from noon to 4 p.m.

Where: Morbid Anatomy Museum, 424 A Third Ave.

The eerie museum's second annual kids' Halloween party will feature trick or treating throughout the museum, a costume competition and readings from spooky books.

"Scary-oke," Film Screenings and a Parade at Carroll Park

Where: Carroll Park in Carroll Gardens

The park will kick off its Halloween events with a screening of "Little Shop of Horrors" Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.

Then on Oct. 24 from 6 to 9 p.m., the park will host its annual "Scary-oke" Karaoke party for all.

Finally, the annual children's Halloween Parade will be held Oct. 31 at noon. The free parade will head down Smith and Court streets before heading back into the park.

► Freddy's Halloween Bash

Where: Freddy's Bar, 627 Fifth Ave. 

When: Oct. 31, 8 p.m.

The popular South Slope bar will feature drink specials, music, a costume competition, and no cover charge for partygoers. 

► The Harvest Festival at Brooklyn Bridge Park

Where: Pier 6

When: Oct. 24, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Brooklyn Bridge Park will be celebrating fall along with the opening of new parkland at Pier 6 with its annual Harvest Festival. There will be live music, a Halloween parade, a pumpkin patch, games and a haunted walk. 

► Come As Your Are/Express Youself 80's & 90's Halloween Party

Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw St.

When: Oct. 30, 10:30 p.m.

Dust off your costume and pull out your dancing shoes for Littlefield's Halloween pre-party with DJ Steve Reynolds. There will be drink specials, a photo booth and lots of candy (because what's Halloween without a sugar rush?)

► Eighth Annual Howl-O-Ween Bark Block Party

Where: Sean Casey Animal Rescue, 153 E 3rd St. 

When: Oct. 25 from noon to 5 p.m.

Celebrate Halloween with Brooklyn's furriest residents at the annual fundraiser and adoption event in Windsor Terrace. Look out for the pet costume contest, games for kids and dogs, and the "Puppy Love Kissing Booth!" 

► The Cobble Hill Halloween Parade

Where: Cobble Hill Park

When: Oct. 31, 4 p.m.

Spooky costumes, trick or treating and more at the Cobble Hill Association's yearly Halloween parade for kids in the neighborhood. 

► The Griff And Joe Halloween Scaretacular

Where: Union Hall, 702 Union St. 

When: Oct. 31, Doors at 7 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m.

That maniacal laugh you've been practicing will probably come in handy for Union Hall's Halloween night of comedy with Griffin Newman, Joe Garden and a host of comedians.
