Delmonico's. Rogers' Chop House and Restaurant. Café St. Denis. These New York City eateries served all manner of American, British and French dishes in the early 20th century, according to menus archived by the New York Public Library

Some of these meals have completely vanished from contemporary menus, their flavors distasteful to the modern palate ("coffee jello" anyone?) Others are no longer recognizable, their antiquated names succeeded by newer ones.
