"12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today"

Where: The Kumble Theater, 1 University Plaza, Downtown
When: Various times, Friday through Sunday

The theatrical performance from the book “12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today” premieres this week, featuring a cast that includes John Amos from “Good Times” and Dulé Hill of “The West Wing.” The reading tells the stories of men from the across the nation who share their experiences of racial profiling. Check out the Kumble Theater website for show times and tickets.

Gowanus Open Studios    

Where: Various locations throughout Gowanus
When: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday

Peek inside the studios of more than 300 artists during this self-guided tour of one of the city’s creative hubs. This year’s Gowanus Open Studios features curator-led tours and an exhibit of work by young people who live in the Gowanus Houses public housing complex.

Winter at the Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg

Where: 241 37th St. in Industry City, Sunset Park
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday

Brooklyn’s two most popular artisanal markets will kick off their winter residency in Sunset Park this weekend. Smorgasburg and Brooklyn Flea will occupy a roughly 50,000 square-foot space on the second floor of an Industry City building. It will operate out of the location until March 27, 2016.

The 9th Annual Red Hook International Film & Video Festival

Where: Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition screening room, 499 Van Brunt St., Red Hook
When: Noon to 7 p.m.

Watch a range of films, documentaries and animated shorts at this year’s Red Hook Film Festival. The opening night reception will be held Saturday at Bait & Tackle and the festival will be held alongside BWAC’s fall exhibit, “Really Affordable Art Show” that runs until Oct. 25. Tickets are priced at $12 per film block. Day passes are also available online.

Friday, Oct. 16

► BRIC Jazzfest

Where: BRIC House, 647 Fulton St., Fort Greene
When: 7:30 p.m.

Nine artists or ensembles groups, including tenor sax Kamasi Washington, jazz guitarist Nir Felder, and trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, will play sets in different places throughout BRIC’s building. Listeners can wander from set to set. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

Free Fall Fridays at Brooklyn Historical Society

Where: Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont St., Brooklyn Heights
When: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Brooklyn Historical Society is offering free fall after-hours admission every third Friday of the month until November. The center is extending its hours past 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. so visitors can access the exhibitions, galleries and the Othmer Library.

Saturday, October 17

Brownsville Harvest Festival

Where: Project EATS Brownsville Farm, Chester and Dumont streets, Brownsville
When: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Games, cooking demonstrations, tastings and a scavenger hunt are some of the free activities coming to the newly created Project EATS Brownsville Farm, an urban garden created this summer from a vacant lot near the Marcus Garvey Apartments. Organizers of the event hope it gets more locals interested in the farm, which was built with the intention of training area residents and students to manage the green space in the future.

Browntoners of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Inc. 37th Annual House Tour

Where: Starts at Boys and Girls High School, 1700 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy
When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

See inside Bed-Stuy’s historic brownstones on this annual house tour of the neighborhood. Homeowners open their doors to give visitors a glimpse of their buildings’ classic architecture and unique features. Tickets cost $25 on the day of the tour and proceeds go toward scholarships to students from local high schools.

When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

'Inside Bed-Stuy' Heritage Tour

Where: Starts at Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration, 1368 Fulton St., Bed-Stuy
When: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., or 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Learn the hidden histories of Bedford-Stuyvesant and the background behind the neighborhood’s buildings, landmarks, arts, and culture. The guided tour highlights the area’s notable Billie Holiday Theatre, the new bed and breakfast located at the brownstone home from Spike Lee’s “Crooklyn,” as well as local shops and restaurants.

Bed-Vyne’s Oktoberfest

Where: 370 Tompkins Ave. at Putnam Avenue, Bed-Stuy
When: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Help celebrate the fourth anniversary of neighborhood wine shop Bed-Vyne Wine with a block party filled with drinks and food. The Oktoberfest festivities offers a variety of brews and the brand’s private wine labels. Admission is free, and drink tickets start at $5 for one and $20 for five drinks.

Brooklyn Youth Sports Walk & Expo

Where: Meet on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge
When: 2:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Parents, coaches and families are invited to this pep rally aimed at supporting youth sports and combatting childhood obesity. Participants will walk across the Brooklyn Bridge with Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and the event culminates in an expo at Borough Hall with sports demonstrations and giveaways. Attendees are encouraged to wear their team uniforms and bring their banners.

Sounds on Sackett

Where: Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 433 Sackett St., Carroll Gardens
When: 4 p.m. onwards

The majestic Carroll Gardens church will kick off its concert series “Sounds on Sackett” with a performance from vocalist Karen Merchant, who will sing selections from the American Songbook, including songs from George and Ira Gershwin and Cole Porter. She will be accompanied on the piano by Giacomo Oliva.
