BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Brooklyn residents looking to switch up their summer wardrobe in time for sweater weather can trade their items at a local "community reuse" event this weekend.

Nonprofit GrowNYC is hosting a free “Stop ‘N’ Swap” at M.S. 35 in Bed-Stuy on Saturday, giving people the chance to exchange or donate their unwanted items.

Attendees can bring clean, reusable belongings including clothes, books, toys, electronics and household goods to trade.

Those who don’t have items to donate can also stop by to pick up whatever they choose.

“Stop ‘N’ Swaps keep reusable items from ending up in a landfill and prevent the waste that comes from the production, packaging and transportation required to get new things,” GrowNYC executive director Marcel Van Ooyen said in a statement.

“We’re helping to reduce the city’s carbon footprint by facilitating reuse and encouraging waste reduction.”

Items left over at the end of the event will be donated or recycled.

The organization is looking to host a Stop ‘N’ Swap in the each of the city’s community districts every year.

GrowNYC’s Stop ‘N’ Swap will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3 from noon to 3 p.m. at M.S. 35 Stephen Decatur, 272 MacDonough St.
