BROOKLYN — A 10-year-old boy was found dead after an apartment fire in the Luis Pink Houses Thursday night, police said.

The fire broke out in a bedroom full of about five kids in a third-floor apartment at 1257 Loring Ave., near Autumn Avenue, about 9:41 p.m., sources said.

All the children, except the 10-year-old boy, whose name was not immediately released, raced out to wake the father, sources said.

He tried to get into the room and save the boy but was repelled by fire and smoke, sources said.

There were no working smoke alarms in the apartment, according to a tweet from the FDNY.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The city's medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death, police said.

There were no other injuries, an NYPD spokesman said.

The fire was caused by a pinched extension cord, according to a tweet from the FDNY. Sources said it did not appear suspicious.
