PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — Police arrested eight members of a neighborhood youth gang this week after the crew assaulted and robbed an 18-year-old of his bike, sources and investigators said.

The group attacked the teen at the corner of Rogers and Parkside avenues in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The victim told officials the eight teens began punching him in the face, pushed him off his bike, kicked and punched him while he was on the ground and took off with the two-wheels.

The victim suffered minor injuries, but was not hospitalized, police said.

Officers arrested all eight of the teens, who were ages 15 through 19, shortly after the assault, police said.

Sources said the eight young men are part of the Young Savages gang, a group active mostly on Parkside Avenue, Hawthorne Street and the surrounding blocks, which has an ongoing rivalry with another local gang from the nearby Ebbets Field apartments on Bedford Avenue in Crown Heights.

The beef between the two groups contributed to an uptick in shootings in the area earlier this year and remains a source of ongoing violence, the local precinct has said.
