Pro skateboarder Tony Hawk, skating around New York City yesterday according to his Twitter account, offered to give his board to the first person who asked for it.

The picture above was taken in the Lower East Side, outside the bar and live music venue Fat Baby. An hour and a half later, the lucky soul to win the Birdman's board stopped him in what appears to be Times Square.

Hawk, who lives in southern California, was likely in New York to promote his new skateboarding video game, "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5," which is set for release on Sept. 29.
UPDATE: Hawk is pulling off the same trick Wednesday, promising to give away a second skateboard on the Lower East Side.
