QUEENS — Foodies will get to taste a variety of Latin-themed flavors Thursday night during the first-ever restaurant crawl in Jamaica, an event organized to highlight local eateries and encourage more nightlife in the neighborhood, the organizers said.

Ticket holders will be able to eat an unlimited amount of food, served buffet style at three participating eateries: Sangria Tapas Bar and Restaurant, at 95-41 Sutphin Blvd, which serves Portuguese food, Puerto Plata Restaurant at 149-17 Jamaica Ave., offering Dominican cuisine, and Rincon Salvadoreno, at 92-15 149th St., where participants will try Salvadorian flavors.

During the crawl, which runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and costs $20, attendees will spend about 45 minutes in each restaurant, the organizers said.

“We are trying to get people to know these restaurants,” said Edwin Rosado of the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, a local nonprofit which co-organizes the event.

Rosado said the idea was developed only last week, after hundreds of people showed up at the first Brew & Chew festival, during which local restaurants were presenting samples of their dishes.

During the crawl people can eat as much as they want, Rosado said, but have to pay extra for drinks.

He said that if the event is successful, the organizers hope to hold another restaurant crawl in the neighborhood soon.

A $20 ticket will include buffet dinner at the three restaurants, and a tote bag at the end of the crawl. For more information call 516-502-5936 (Edwin) or 929-330-4281 (Glenn).
