UNION SQUARE — A man refused to allow officers in the Union Square subway station search his bag, and then dared police to arrest him when they told him to leave the station, police said.

The 27-year-old man was randomly stopped at the station for a security search roughly 10:35 p.m. on Sept. 9, and when he refused to let officers search his bag, police told him he would have to leave the station.

That's when he put his foot down.

“You’ll just have to arrest me,” he told officers, according to authorities.

Police obliged, arresting the man, and charging him with disobeying a lawful order and criminal trespassing, police said.

He was issued a desk appearance ticket requiring him to show up for court at a later date, records show. Information regarding an attorney was not immediately available.

Other notable arrests in the 13th Precinct:

► A 42-year-old man threatened the bartender of a Chelsea bar with a knife last week, after the staffer tried to kick him out, police said.

A bartender at Xes Lounge, at 157 W. 24th St., told the man he had to leave at 1:22 a.m. on Sept. 7, when the suspect pulled out a blade and threatened to use it, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear why the man was asked to leave.

Officers responding to a 911 call at the bar arrested the man, after finding the knife in the his back pocket, police said.

He was charged with possession of a weapon and menacing, and released without bail. He's due back in court on Oct. 27, according to court records.

His lawyer did not return a request for comment. No one at the bar was immediately avaialble for comment.
