"Red Hook is under attack!"

Brooklyn's waterfront neighborhood is gaining a bit of notoriety in an FX horror drama called "The Strain." Its most recent episode, titled "The Battle for Red Hook" that aired Sunday, featured a number of seemingly bloodthirsty vampire-like creatures descending upon the neighborhood.

“The Battle For Red Hook” focuses on the failure of government institutions when it comes to times of crises," the A.V. Club writes about the episode set in one of the neighborhoods walloped by Superstorm Sandy almost three years ago.

According to The Los Angeles Times episode recap, the residents of Red Hook are ready to face the horrific group of invaders who are hopping on a boat from Manhattan. (Surprisingly, it's not the NY Water Taxi which would have gotten them store credit at Ikea for their tickets.)

Sadly however, the recap writer, T.L. Stanley, says the battle was less than epic.

Now in its second season, "The Strain" has been getting rave reviews. It was even renewed for a third season that will air next year.

In a nutshell it's about a vampiric virus that's spreading very rapidly through New York City. "The Strain" was based on a novel trilogy by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, both of whom also created the show.

The Daily Beast called it "the Best Horror Show on TV" and Rotten Tomatoes gives it an applaudable 82 percent on the critics meter and 80 percent for audiences.

However, despite its fictional setting in Red Hook, the show may not have ever actually filmed in the neighborhood. Its filming locations, according to iMDB, are limited to Canada.
