CROWN HEIGHTS — A man was shot and killed in the neighborhood early Friday morning, according to the NYPD.

Christopher Burgin, 29, was hit several times in the torso in front of 1308 Prospect Place at about 12:12 a.m., police said.

"I was cleaning up my basement and we heard three or four shots, 'Pop! Pop! Pop!' They were one after another,” said a 77-year-old woman who would only giver her first name, Merle.

“I went out on the block and he was on the ground in the middle of the street by a gray car. He was on his back. He didn't have his shirt on."

Felix Moore, 40, said Burgin grew up in the neighborhood.

"That was my right-hand man. I saw him yesterday before I left this block around 9 [p.m.]," Moore told DNAinfo. "I told him, 'I'm gonna see you tomorrow.' Then my sister called me three hours later and told me he got shot. It was mind-blowing."

Moore added that Burgin was a "good dude" who didn't have any apparent enemies.

"He liked music," he said. "He liked kicking it was the fellas."

Local bodega worker Alex Kassim, 20, said Burgin once gave him spare tires when he was having car problems.

"I'm in shock. This is really crazy," Kassim said. "It's only the good ones who have to go."

Burgin, who lived in Queens, was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There were no immediate arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
