GRAMERCY — An ill-mannered attempt to get a woman’s attention landed her admirer in jail.

A man followed a woman from the New York Sports Club on 23rd Street for two blocks and then slipped a hand-written note into her back pants pocket, touching her butt in the process, police said.

"Do your legs make you feel omnipotent?" the man asked in the missive, according to the criminal complaint from the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

The woman was walking away from the club at 113 E. 23rd St. when the man approached her outside of 307 Third Ave. at roughly 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 22, police said.

The woman reported the incident to police, saying that she recognized the man from the gym. Police waited for the man at the 23rd Street club the next day and arrested him at 9:53 a.m., according to officials.

The man was charged with sexual abuse, a misdemeanor, and second degree harassment. He was released and is due back in court on Oct. 21. A temporary order of protection was issued.

An employee at the gym declined to comment, citing company policy.
