Staten Island Man Attacked During Home Break In, Police Say

TOTTENVILLE — A Staten Island man was cut on his arm and chest after another man broke into his Tottenville backyard on Saturday, police said.

The suspect pried open a gate to enter the Richard Avenue backyard at about 10:40 p.m. and was seen by the 63-year-old homeowner who confronted him, police said.

The two started to fight and the suspect took out an unidentified weapon and attacked the man with it, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and received stitches for three deep cuts to his arm and treatment for two minor cuts to his chest, police said.

The suspect is described as standing 5-foot-7 and weighing about 145 pounds with a thin mustache. He was last seen wearing a forest green t-shirt, black pants, black sneakers, a black baseball hat and tan cow hide gloves.
