There's a new way to calculate your “New York Realness” — not by the number of pizza slices you’ve eaten, but by how many subway stations you’ve visited.

Conde Nast digital designer Mike Solomon, created “What’s your subway number?” — a digital map that allows subway commuters to mark each station they’ve ever visited. Not passed, but actually walked through and smelled the garbage.

Solomon told Gothamist that his inspiration came when he was “bored out of my mind staring at the subway map.” He realized that there were so many far-out stations that he’d never visited and thought it would be fun to note everywhere he had been.

“Then I realized it would be fun for other people to do, so I made a scoring and sharing system," said Solomon.

The ranks are rated as: Rich Tourist, Junior Commuter, Official Resident and NYC Lifer. Although everyone starts as a NYC outsider, you'll soon find yourself heading for various levels of subway status, as you navigate around New York City.

But it is not just fun and games. Solomon is hoping that the map encourages people to explore New York communities that they may otherwise not.

He also added a feature that automatically saves your results so that you can come back and update your map and track your progress. Until of course, you’re a NYC lifer.
