JACKSON HEIGHTS — A pop-up enrollment center for the city's municipal ID cards will open at the local library in September.

The city's IDNYC program will set up shop at the Jackson Heights Library on 82nd Street from Sept. 1 through Sept. 17, officials said.

The free card provides identification for residents of the city — including undocumented immigrants and others who have a hard time getting government-issued IDs — and also provides free access to cultural and art institutions across the city.

Additional enrollment centers opened throughout Queens to keep up with the demand for the municipal identification cards, which were introduced in January.

When the program first launched, New Yorkers waited for hours just to make appointments for the cards, which are available to everyone 14 and up.

Officials then began ruling out more sites throughout the city, especially in Queens where demand was high.

After originally only having three locations in the borough, you can now get an appointment at eight locations in Queens, including the Department of Health center in Corona, LaGuardia Community College, Queens Council on the Arts, and soon the Jackson Heights Library.

To make an appointment, visit the program's website or go to the sites in-person.
