CORONA — State test results in math and English were released this week, with Mayor Bill de Blasio praising gains made at schools across the city.

Overall, proficiency standards for students in the third-through eighth grade were up 35 percent in math, and 30 percent in English. That's up 1 and 2 percent, respectively, from last year's results.

In parts of western Queens, covering Districts 24 and 30, many of the schools ranked low in the annual tests.

A racial gap within the test results persists, with black and Hispanic students making much smaller gains, according to the data released by the Department of Education.
