RED HOOK — A cyclist who was hit by an MTA bus in Red Hook late last month died of his injuries on Friday, police said.

David Rodriguez, 32, was biking east on Van Dyke Street when he was struck by an MTA B57 bus heading south on Dwight Street shortly after 11 p.m. on July 29, police and the MTA said.

The cyclist, who lived on Columbia Street in the neighborhood, was taken to New York Methodist Hospital but succumbed to his injures Aug. 7.

The driver of the bus remained on the scene and the incident is being investigated by the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad, police said.

An MTA spokeswoman said the bus driver, who remains on duty, was not charged at the scene and the crash was deemed non-preventable by New York City Transit.

No further information was available regarding the circumstances of the crash.
