COBBLE HILL — The Cobble Hill community will have a chance to give feedback this week for a heavily criticized plan to build soaring towers at the former Long Island College Hospital site.

Fortis Property Group will present its two proposals for the embattled property on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Brooklyn Montessori School, followed by questions and discussion.

Fortis first told locals about its plans for the site during a contentious meeting in May.

Under the first option, an as-of-right plan that would not require additional approval from the city, the developer would construct a 44-story tower between Pacific Street and Atlantic Avenue alongside lower towers.

For the second proposal, Fortis would have to receive city approval under the ULURP process to rezone the land parcel.

That plan would bring residential buildings to the site, along with a 40-story tower on Atlantic Avenue — slightly further away from quaint, low-rise Cobble Hill. Fortis has also promised to build a public school and a commercial corridor along Pacific Street if the rezoning is approved.

While the as-of-right option would include about 400 market-rate units. The rezoning plan involves a higher number of residential units, affordable housing and increased parking.

NYU Langone Medical Center plans to build a roughly 108,000 square-foot health facility at Atlantic Avenue and Hicks Street.

A working group, which includes elected officials, Community Board 6 members and the Cobble Hill Association, has convened to organize public meetings to keep the community involved in the process over the next few months.

The next meeting will take place on Aug. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Brooklyn Montessori School at 185 Court St. in Cobble Hill.
