MANHATTAN — Police arrested an ex-con for a shooting last month that injured two people on St. Nicholas Avenue, officials said.

Miguel Morros, 21, was arrested on July 29, six days after the shooting in front of 1632 St. Nicholas Ave., police said.

During the incident, a 24-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were both shot and treated for non-fatal injuries. Police said at the time that they did not believe either victim was the intended target.

Morros’ motive for the shooting was not clear.

He was charged with first-degree assault, a felony, and is being held on $100,000 bail, according to city Department of Correction records.

Morros previously served a two-year prison sentence for robbery, according to the state Department of Corrections. He also has another case pending in New York Criminal Court for an unspecified April 22 incident.

Morros’ lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Deputy Inspector Chris Morello posted news of the arrest on the 34th Precinct’s Facebook page.

“After looking at much video and interviewing every possible witness and following up on every possible lead, Detective George Gill arrested the shooter, despite having a victim who was less than forthcoming with information,” he wrote. “Great work by our dedicated cops and detectives.”

There have been five shootings in the 34th Precinct from Jan. 1 through July 26, the same amount for the that period last year, according to NYPD statistics,
