Friday, July 1

"Mr. Joy" One-Man Show Performance

Where: Clove Lakes Park, 1150 Clove Road, Castleton Corners

Actor Daniel Beaty will perform his one-man show, "Mr. Joy," for free at Clove Lakes Park from 7 to 9 p.m. The show shows the impact on nine customers when a longtime Harlem shoe repair shop doesn't open its doors.

Saturday, August 1

SHARP Exhibit Opening Reception

Where: Snug Harbor Cultural Center, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Livingston

Snug Harbor will host an opening reception for its latest Snug Harbor Artist in Residency Program (SHARP) exhibit featuring work by Amber M. Adams and Ivan Forde. The exhibit will run inside the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art until Sept. 13. The opening reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m.

► Frank Sinatra Sound Alike Competition

Where: Midland Beach, Turtle Circle, Father Capodanno Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue entrance

Mort & Ray Productions will try to find the singer who sounds most like Frank Sinatra as part of the Staten Island Beach Fest series of free weekend events. The contest, which will pit 10 crooners against each other, will start at 2 p.m. and the winner will receive a $100 cash prize. The Beach Fest will also host other events around the borough Saturday and Sunday. Visit their website for a full list.

► "Get Up & Go! Family Adventure Race"

Where: Conference House Park, Tottenville

The City Parks Foundation will host a one-hour race for parents and children with several team activity stations throughout. The $10 race is open to children ages 8 through 13 and starts at 10 a.m.

 Movies in the Park: "Godzilla"

Where: Grandview Playground, Mariners Harbor

The Parks Department will host a free screening of the 1998 remake of "Godzilla." The film stars Matthew Broderick as Dr. Niko Tatopoulos who faces off against the giant kaiju Godzilla destroying New York City. The free screening starts at 8:30 p.m., but organizers suggest getting there early to secure a spot.

► SummerStages TKA, Flaco Navaja and the Razor Blades, Tony Touch Show

Where: Clove Lakes Park, 1150 Clove Road, Castleton Corners

Dance group TKA, singer Flaco Navaja with the Razor Blades, and DJ Tony Touch will play for free at Clove Lakes Park from 7 to 9 p.m.

Sunday, August 2

Discovery Day at Fresh Kills Park

Where: Fresh Kills Park, 350 Wild Ave., Travis

The NYC Parks Department will open up sections of the under-construction park at the former Fresh Kills Landfill between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for people to explore. Visitors will be able to use the trails at the future North Park for jogging, walking and bicycling — with rentals available — during the day and will also run a bus to a scenic overview throughout the day.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Kayak Staten Island will lead free kayaking in the Fresh Kills and Main Creek waterways. Artist Tattfoo Tan will lead a group bike ride inside the park at 1 p.m., and ride over from the St. George Ferry Terminal at 11 a.m. Visitors can enter the park at 350 Wild Ave., and there will be shuttles running between Fresh Kills and a parking areas on Wild Avenue and the St. George Ferry Terminal throughout the day.

► SummerStages Family Day Concert

Where: Clove Lakes Park, 1150 Clove Road, Castleton Corners

The City Parks Foundation continues its free SummerStages series of concerts around the city with a "Family Day" at Clove Lakes Park. The concert includes performances by Little Club Heads, Hopalong Andrew, the Uptown Dance Academy and the family funk duo Sugar Free Allstars. The concert is from 4 to 7 p.m.
