BROOKLYN — A construction worker was injured after he was hit by a falling air conditioner unit while working on scaffolding at a Red Hook building Friday, the FDNY and the Department of Labor said.

The worker was on the second floor scaffold at 123 Lorraine St. when the air conditioner fell from a floor above and hit him at 8:30 a.m., the FDNY said.

He was taken to Lutheran Hospital with trauma and was listed in stable condition, fire officials said.

Signs were posted around the building by contractors Zoria Housing LLC that asked residents to remove their A/Cs from their window during the construction.

Workers who answered the phone at Zoria Housing declined to comment for this story.

The DOL said that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration opened an investigation into the accident on Friday.
