GREENWICH VILLAGE — The office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor made arrests in 13 felony drug cases in Greenwich Village in the first half of 2015.

The agency prosecutes felony drug cases across the city. Founded in the early 1970s in response to a growing heroin epidemic and an increase in violent crime, the independent office collaborates with the NYPD to respond to known hot spots of drug crime in precincts all over Manhattan.

Of the 13 cases in Greenwich Village's 6th Precinct, three suspects were caught dealing on or near Bleecker Street, three near or in the West Fourth Street subway station, and three in the clubby Meatpacking District, including one inside the ritzy SoHo House.

In nearly all of the cases, the suspects were nabbed selling drugs to informants or undercover officers who approached them.

Four cases involved MDMA (often referred to as "molly"), three people were carrying or selling cocaine, three cases involved crack cocaine, and six people were carrying or selling marijuana.

One person was found carrying heroin, but wasn't caught selling it, according to court records.

Several people were illegally trafficking prescription drugs, including Adderall, Oxycodone, Xanax and oxycontin.
