PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — Live drumming, a fashion show and a competition for the neighborhood's best chicken recipe will be part of the first-ever Prospect Empire Street Festival on Flatbush Avenue this weekend.

The five-block-long street fair will be held Sunday between Westbury Court and Beekman Place. Police will shut down traffic along the stretch from noon to 6 p.m., organizers said.

The free event — sponsored by the local business improvement group, the Parkside Empire Flatbush Avenue Merchants Association, and Hudson Inc., the company developing a 23-story residential building at 626 Flatbush Ave. — will include pop-up shops from local vendors, a raffle and games for kids.

Eight local musical acts are also set to take part in the event, performing on a stage set up between Midwood Street and Rutland Road, organizers said. Performers include reggae hip-hop artist Lyrikal, jazz singer and guitarist Camila Meza, and Caribbean jam band Alegbra and Friends.

The event will take place rain or shine on Sunday, July 26, and is free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, visit the Facebook event page.
