Boerum Hill’s shuttered Church of the Redeemer appears to have reached its end.
The Gothic Revival building at Fourth Avenue and Pacific Street will be demolished this fall, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The church has been closed since 2010 and last September it was sold for $20 million to the Jackson Group.
Plans to raze the building were first announced in 2012. There are no development plans for the site as yet, the newspaper reports.
The Episcopal Diocese of Long Island sold the church after it could no longer cover the increasing monthly expenses, officials said last year.
The church’s closure was a result of a decline in congregation members and structural damage to the building, which would have cost millions of dollars to repair. Community members have long protested the closure and sale, saying it could have been prevented.
Parts of the church will be salvaged and sold by Demolition Depot, The Wall Street Journal reported, including the stained-glass windows, light fixtures, stone doorways and pressed-tin ceilings.
