MANHATTAN — A manhole fire forced dozens of Washington Heights residents out of their homes Monday night, according to reports.

The fire caused elevated carbon monoxide levels in the area, as well as a power outage at two six-story apartment buildings on Audubon Avenue near 176th Street, CBS and ABC reported.

Sixty to 80 tenants were evacuated from the buildings as a result, CBS reported.

Residents were allowed back into their homes overnight, ABC added.

There were no reports of injuries.
